Flights to the United Kingdom

There are plenty of choices when it comes to arranging your trip to the UK. Really you're only limited by your budget and your own imagination.

Probably the most common route is flying through Asia with one of the major carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific or Thai Airways. If you're going for more than just a couple of weeks then you can take your pick of exotic Asian stopovers to break up your trip and give you more memorable experiences to enjoy and a greater bang for your buck.

Flying to London through Asia is great if you're on business or on holiday but perhaps not the best choice if you're moving to the UK as part of an OE - most airlines on those routes limit you to a measly 20kg of checked in luggage which is not much if you're heading off for a year. If you've got lots of things to take with you and you want to avoid the hefty excess luggage fees, then consider flying through North America, where you'll be allowed to take two bags of up to 32kg each on your journey. Flights to the UK through North America are generally not much more expensive and there's the added bonus of using Air New Zealand if you want to pick up lots of airpoints for use when you get back home.

For something a bit more exotic - to differentiate yourself from the majority of kiwis heading to Europe - then consider flying to England through South America. The distance and flying times are practically the same as those through Asia or North America though prices do tend to be higher. But hey, you'll have the experience of a lifetime and plenty of adventures to recall to those kiwi expats you'll meet once you get to London.
